Neves and Seamone lead Mystics to win
Ashley Neves and Lauren Seamone scored two goals apiece in the Mystics 6-0 defeat of the Crandall Charges Sunday afternoon in Halifax.
The Mystics controlled much of the play in the game and came out firing early on.
Ashley Neves took a corner kick and found Lauren Seamone out front of the Chargers net to go up 1-0 just six minutes in.
Two minutes later, Neves earned her first goal of the match to put the Mystics up 2-0 less than 10 minutes into the first half.
Kenadie Wagg had a nice look soon after, thanks to a through ball from Seamone, but her shot went wide.
Mhyah Allen got the ball in close, forcing Crandall keeper Dominique Leclair to come out to challenge and made the save, but gave up a rebound that Emma Bowser sent to the back of the net to go up 3-0.
Just one minute later, Allen dribbled the ball up the left side and put a ball past Leclair on the short side, giving the Mystics a 4-0 lead.
The Mystics continued to press and went up 5-0 at the 23 minute mark after Seamone took the ball up the right side and let a shot go from afar to the right corner to earn her second goal of the afternoon.
Megan Ellis sent a nice ball in to Allen out front, but she hit the left post. Ellis picked up the rebound, but couldn't convert when Leclair made a diving save.
Brianna Killam had the first real chance for the Chargers at the 30 minute mark, but she sent the ball wide.
Not long after, Jamie Hicks put a dangerous ball to Mystics keeper Morgan Gillis off a corner kick, but Gillis batted the ball away. Taylor Fredericks put in a shot on the rebound, but Gillis made that save too.
That would do it for scoring in the first half.
The Mystics continued to test Leclair, who made several saves in the second half until Allen worked the ball up the field and found Neves out front who put the ball into the right corner of the net to go up 6-0.
With the win, the Mystics improve to 7-0-2 and will host the UKC Blue Devils Thursday night in their final home game of the year.
Crandall drops to 0-9 and will host the Dal Rams on Thursday night as well.
