Mystics improve to 2-0 with win over Dal
The Mystics had five different scorers in their 5-0 defeat of the Dalhousie Rams Sunday afternoon in Halifax.
Leah Mombourquette opened the scoring in the 10th minute, sending a low ball to the left corner past Rams keeper Dannan Forbes.
Kenadie Wagg put the Mystics up 2-0 just a few minutes later, notching her first goal with MSVU with a high ball to the top right corner.
The Mystics controlled the pace of play from that point on, testing Forbes with shot after shot, accumulating a total of 11 on net in the first half.
Keeper Morgan Gillis faced just one shot in the first half and was able to make the save.
Emma Farrell had the first real scoring chance in the 51st minute off a free kick, but was unable to convert. Farrell had another opportunity a few minutes later off a great pass from Beth Padfield, but Forbes was able to make the save. Undeterred, Farrell continued to press and found the back of the net on a through pass from Mhyah Allen to make it 3-0 Mystics.
Dal's Clare Glover had a great chance after moving the ball up the field and sending the ball high to the top left corner, but MSVU keeper Allison Rutt tipped the ball away.
Ten minutes later, Beth Pafield worked the ball through the Rams defenders to put the ball into the back of the net to score her first goal of the season, giving the Mystics a 4-0 lead with 20 minutes left to play.
Samantha Chauder put the Mystics up 5-0 two minutes later after receiving a beauty of a pass from Allen inside the 18-yard box.
That would do it for scoring, and the Mystics improved to 2-0 on the season with the 5-0 win.
Up next, the Mystics head to Moncton, New Brunswick to take on the Crandall Chargers, Saturday, September 13, 2025
