Fredericton, NB - The Holland Hurricanes complete the 3-0 sweep vs the MSVU Mystics to secure their spot in the semifinals of the ACAA women's volleyball championships.
The first set started off with the Mystics and Hurricanes in an intense battle which left the two deadlocked, 12-12. After more hard-fought points, the Hurricanes would make a push, securing themselves a 21-17 lead. This lead would then balloon as the Hurricanes finished out the set with a 25-17 victory.
The Hurricanes would extend their dominant end of the first set in the second set which allowed them to jump out to a 14-7 lead. Following this, the Mystics would answer with a plethora of excellent digs and kills to bring the game back within striking distance at 18-15. The early lead the Hurricanes built would prove to be too much for the Mystics to overcome as the Hurricanes hold on to win the set 25-22.
Holland kept up their dominance in the first half of the third set, craving out a 16-9 lead for themselves. The Mystics would not give up after this as they brought the game back to even at 23-23 down the stretch. Despite a great effort from the Mystics in the second half, the Hurricanes were too much in the end as they pull out a 27-25 win to secure the game.
This win for Holland and player of the game, Jenna O'Neill, means they will play the Mount Allison Mounties in the Semifinals.
