After a close, gritty semifinal between the Holland Hurricanes and UNBSJ Seawolves to start the 2025 ACAA Soccer Championships, the MSVU Mystics and UKC Blue Devils took to the field and showcased a near-replica with the same final score.
In a semifinal that could've went either way, the second-seed Mystics came out on the better end, narrowly holding off the third-seed Blue Devils to punch their ticket to Sunday's gold medal game.
Under rainy skies to start the game, MSVU applied a quick push and profited off a brilliant first and only goal by Samantha Chauder in the fifth minute, who fired a far, high shot over the Blue Devils goalkeeper from the left side of the penalty area.
The rest of the match went scoreless as each team exchanged opportunities in a defensive and goalkeeper's duel. UKC put in a hard-fought effort in the dying minutes, but ultimately came up short.
Mhyah Allen was named the Mystics Player of the Game. Kennedy MacKill was named the Blue Devils Player of the Game.
MSVU will challenge UNBSJ for the women's conference championship on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
