The Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Queens (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Bronze medallists) will play for bronze in front of their home fans at the 2025 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship.
In the bronze semi-final, the RDP Queens scored a timely goal in the second half and edged the Mount St. Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics (Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association Champions) 1-0.
The Mystics applied most of the pressure in the opening half, but Queens goalkeeper Jessie Stewart made several key saves to keep the match scoreless.
In the 68th minute, the RDP Queens jumped ahead 1-0. Yuri Umino, a first-year midfielder from Kobe, Japan, sent a cross into the MSVU box and Sein Furuyama finished the play at the far post.
Payton Erick, a third-year defender from Devon, Alberta, was acknowledged as the 4imprint Queens Player of the Game. Lauren Seamone, an Education student from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, was named the 4imprint Mystics Player of the Match.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will face the St. Clair Saints on Saturday, November 8 at 12 pm MST in the bronze medal match.
