In a game that started as a defensive battle and finished with offensive fireworks, the Mystics earned a hard-fought 71–55 victory over the Hurricanes. The opening quarter saw both teams locked in defensively, forcing tough shots and turnovers. The Hurricanes struck first as Leclair's steal led to a transition basket from Riley MacDonald (Timberlea, NS). Later in the frame, Mystics' Lily Newberry (Yellowknife, NT) showcased her strength with a determined drive to the basket, converting an and-one layup through contact. Despite the Hurricanes' early push, the Mystics closed the quarter with momentum, capped by a buzzer-beating layup from Keezaidra Smith (North Preston, NS) to take a 16–12 lead after one.
The second quarter opened up offensively for both sides. Strickland knocked down a three in transition to spark the Mystics, while the Hurricanes answered with a fast-break layup from George off a feed from Nevaeh O'Connell (Beechville, NS). The Hurricanes continued to battle, getting a transition finish from Brown and a three-pointer from Maryn Kline (Halifax, NS). The Mystics responded with a smooth reverse layup from Kelsey Matheson (Halifax, NS) and carried that rhythm throughout the quarter. Kaleigh Whiffen (St. John's, NL) punctuated the half with a buzzer-beating three, sending the Mystics into the break up 44–29.
The Mystics' defensive pressure intensified in the third quarter, fueling their transition offense. Strickland picked up a steal and converted it into a layup, while Matheson found Elissa Brice (Rothesay, NB) cutting to the rim for an easy finish. For the Hurricanes, Brown and George each added driving layups to keep their team within reach. Strickland then connected from long range off crisp ball movement to give the Mystics a 58–39 lead heading into the final frame.
The Hurricanes opened the fourth quarter on a mission, starting with a 9–0 run fueled by a George layup and a three from O'Connell. But the Mystics weathered the storm as Empringham answered with a strong drive through the lane, helping to restore momentum. From there, the Mystics' defense and depth proved too much to overcome, closing out the game for a decisive 71–55 win.
The Mystics' balanced attack and timely shooting were key in pulling away late, while the Hurricanes' early energy and fourth-quarter push kept the game competitive throughout.
