Men's soccer team earns first win of 2025
The Mystics defeated the Dalhousie Rams 4-2 Sunday afternoon in Halifax.
Despite finding themselves down 2-0 less than 20 minutes into the match, the Mystics men's soccer team clawed their way to a 4-2 victory over the Dalhousie Rams.
Dal's Noah Willis opened the scoring in the 16th minute, capitalizing on a penalty kick after the Mystics were called for a foul inside the box.
Willis notched his second of the match after a turnover deep in the Mystics end, putting the Rams up 2-0.
Both teams traded control of the ball for most of the first half. Mystics keeper Tristan Brocklehurst made a number of saves to keep the Mystics in the match, while Noah Hutchison-Mills and Prabhjyot Pannu had some scoring opportunities throughout the first.
It looked like the Rams would take a 2-0 lead into halftime until Noah Hutchison-Mills was fouled by the keeper as he drove to the net in extra time, resulting in a penalty kick. He scored to cut the Rams lead 2-1 giving the Mystics a boost heading into the second half.
The Mystics headed into the second with a lot of energy and soon tied the game after Logan Gervais moved the ball up the field and put the ball past Rams keeper Patrick Casey.
Cooper McVicar-Smith took advantage of a loose ball in front of the Rams net to give the Mystics a 3-2 lead after sending the ball to the back of the net.
The Rams tried to even things up with Eric Winters and Willis each having good looks, but they were unable to score.
The Mystics went up 4-0 in the 83rd minute after the Rams scored on their own net trying to break up a cross from Noah Hutchison-Mills that was meant for his twin Cole.
That would do it for scoring and the Mystics earned new head coach Kieran Collins his first win at the helm.
Up next, the Mystics head to Moncton, New Brunswick to take on the Crandall Chargers Saturday, September 13, 2025
