Tommies Top Mystics 1-0
The Mystics fell 1-0 to the St. Thomas Tommies Saturday evening in Bedford, N.S.
STU's Gray Cyr had the first scoring opportunity of the game, putting the ball just wide six minutes in. Teammate Aidan Lavery had a sharp shot on net soon after, but Mystics keeper Tristan Brocklehurst made the save.
Chidubem Nkoloagu had another great chance for the Tommies, but Brocklehurst made his third save of the half to keep them scoreless.
Ignacio Chung Michelsen had the first good look for the Mystics, but Luke Ewen snagged the ball to make the save.
Brocklehurst made another great save for the Mystics soon after pulling a header from Nana Osei Bonsu out of the air and into his arms. He continued to keep the Mystics in the game making back to back diving saves, much to the dismay of the Tommies attackers.
Jacob Heroux had the last real scoring opportunity of the half for the Mystics with a shot from the top of the 18 yard box, but Ewen made the stop leaving the game scoreless after 45 minutes of play.
The Tommies continued to test Brocklehurst with shots coming from Nkoloagu and Cyr, but to no avail.
STU worked to control the play for much of the second half and tried to capitalize on a handball call just outside the 18, but the Mount keeper made the diving save.
Tommies midfielder Dan Keripe finally solved Brocklehurst with just two minutes left in regulation time to give STU a 1-0 lead.
The Mystics tried to respond, but were unable to score, giving the Tommies a 1-0 win.
MSVU falls to 2-3-2, while STU improves to 6-0-1.
Both teams are back in action Sunday - MSVU plays host to the UNBSJ Seawolves, while STU faces UKC.
