(Halifax, NS) The Mount Saint Vincent Mystics earned a 95–77 victory over the UNBSJ Seawolves on Saturday evening at the A. Garnet Brown Memorial Gymnasium.
Isaiah Cromwell-Wright paced the Mystics with a team-high 24 points, while Anthony Lecky (Sydney River, NS) provided a strong spark off the bench, finishing with 15 points and seven rebounds. Chase Tynes (Lake Loon, NS) narrowly missed a triple-double, recording 11 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists.
For the Seawolves, AJ Nash (St. John's, NL) led all scorers with 30 points and added three assists. Ryan Pollard (Quispamsis, NB) chipped in with 10 points off the bench, while Ethan Szemerda (Saint John, NB) contributed seven points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
The Mystics set the tone early, opening the game on a 9–2 run before extending their advantage through relentless defensive pressure. Tynes sparked the early surge, forcing turnovers that led to transition baskets, including a dunk that capped a 19–4 run. Lecky's driving layup through traffic pushed the lead to 22–8, and the Mystics carried a 26–13 advantage into the first quarter break.
UNBSJ responded to start the second quarter, using defensive stops to ignite their offence. Szemerda and Nash each recorded steals that led to baskets, trimming the deficit to 26–20. Cromwell-Wright answered with a timely three-pointer to halt the run, and although the remainder of the quarter was tightly contested, the Mystics maintained control and entered halftime leading 46–36.
The teams traded baskets early in the third quarter before Cromwell-Wright took over, consistently finding space in the mid-range to extend the Mystics' lead. Each Seawolves push was met with an answer, and Mount Saint Vincent closed the quarter with renewed momentum to hold a 70–53 advantage.
Lecky continued his strong play to open the fourth, connecting from beyond the arc and finishing another tough drive to stretch the lead to 75–54. The cushion proved insurmountable, and the Mystics closed out the contest to secure the 95–77 victory.
