Paris leads Mystics to victory over Blue Devils
Mehki Paris scored a game-high 21 points off the bench to lead the Mystics to a 103-54 win over the visiting UKC Blue Devils Saturday afternoon in Halifax.
The Mystics got out to an early 8-0 lead to start the game. They controlled the pace of play early in the game, leading by as many as 15 just five minutes into the first quarter.
The Blue Devils started to gain some traction, with back-to-back-to-back threes from Kevin Ofime, Marco Cvitanovic and Kevhan Taylor to cut the Mystics lead to eight with two minutes left in the quarter.
MSVU continued to out-score the Blue Devils 28-13 in the second quarter to lead 55-32 heading into the locker room. Chase Tynes was the top scorer for the Mystics in the first half with 12, while Ofmine led the Blue Devils with eight.
The Mystics continued to build their lead in the third and fourth quarters with Mekhi Paris sparking the offence with 10 points in the second half of the game to lead all scorers with 21 at the end of the fourth quarter. He added four assists and four rebounds in the effort.
Chase Tynes scored 14 points in his 25 minutes of play and add a game-high 15 rebounds, plus three assists and two blocks.
Tevin Brothers was the top point-getter for the Blue Devils, netting 11 points.
The Mystics play host to the Mount Allison Mounties Sunday afternoon. UKC is back in action next weekend.
