Change to leadership of men's soccer team
Mount Saint Vincent University’s Director of Athletics & Recreation, Angela Barrett-Jewers announces leadership change to the Mystics men’s soccer team.
After a one-year stint as head coach of the Mystics men’s soccer team, Kieran Collins will be stepping away from the program for personal reasons. Guy Edwards, who served as an assistant coach with the team this past fall, has assumed the role of head coach.
“Kieran made a tremendous impact on our men’s soccer program in the short time he has been with us,” says Barrett-Jewers. “While we would have liked to see him continue to build on that impact, we respect his need to step away and focus on his family.”
Collins led the Mystics to a 5-6-1 record during the regular season, earning the fourth-place spot in the conference championship.
“I’m deeply grateful for my time with the MSVU program and for the players and staff who made it so special,” says Collins. “This group brought commitment, character, and passion every day. I wish Guy all the very best as he takes over the program, and I have full confidence the team is in great hands moving forward.”
A certified CSA B Diploma licensed coach, Edwards has over 20 years of coaching experience across youth and senior levels in both Europe and in Canada. He is currently the High Performance Director of the Halifax Dunbrack Soccer Club and coached the U14 boys provincial team with Collins last year. Edwards was recently appointed to serve on the coaching staff of this season’s U15 boys program.
Before assuming his current role with Dunbrack, Edwards was the Program and Licensing Consultant with Suburban FC and coached their senior women’s and men’s college prep teams.
“We are very pleased that Guy has agreed to become the head coach of our men’s soccer team,” says Barrett-Jewers. “He was a tremendous asset to our program this past season, and we’re confident he will be able to continue to build upon the foundational framework that Kieran worked to establish this year.”
Originally from Lydney, Gloucestershire, UK, he earned a Bachelor of Law and a Masters in Procurement and Supply Chain at the University of South Wales while serving as a player-coach for their football club.
“Mount Saint Vincent University’s men’s soccer is more than a team — it’s a community,” says Edwards. “I’m thrilled to join as head coach and build on the work started by Kieran (Collins) and help create a program where players can grow, lead, and make a real impact both on campus and on the field."
Edwards will begin his tenure as head coach on February 1, 2026.
