Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week
Emma Farrell, Cooper McVicar-Smith, Tina River, Hailey Nason, Victoria Strickland, and Nathaniel Titus are this week's Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week!
Emma Farrell
Fifth-year Midfielder, Emma Farrell, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Soccer.
According to Head Coach, Jenna Blackburn:
"Emma was a force in the midfield, showing great composure under pressure and playing a key role in maintaining possession throughout both matches. Her vision and calm distribution against STU helped control the tempo of the game, allowing the Mystics to build confidently from the back and transition into attack.
Emma’s impact wasn’t limited to the middle of the pitch as she opened the scoring in a 3-1 victory against STU, netting a header off a corner. Her performance set the tone for the team’s success and highlighted her as a true leader on the field!"
Cooper McVicar-Smith
Third-year Midfielder, Cooper McVicar-Smith, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men's Soccer.
According to Head Coach, Keiran Collins:
"Cooper was a driving force in midfield this weekend, playing a full 180 minutes and making a massive impact on both sides of the ball. His relentless energy and determination set the tone for the team, and he was rewarded with a well-deserved goal for his efforts.
Cooper’s work rate, composure in possession, and ability to cover every inch of the pitch were key to maintaining control in both matches. His performance embodies the heart and commitment expected from a Mystic."
Tina River
First-year runner, Tina River, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Cross Country.
According to Head Coach, Linda MacDonald:
"Tina secured a top-ten finish at the Crandall XC Meet this weekend in Moncton, NB, helping the MSVU Women's Team achieve a first-place finish.
She completed the 6k course in 29:16, earning a personal best in her first year with the team. The course featured a mix of trail terrain, including one steep downhill section leading over a wooden bridge, which created some challenging running conditions. Tina steadily worked to close the gap between herself and the runners ahead."
Hailey Nason
Second-year Right Side, Hailey Nason, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Volleyball.
According to Assistant Coach, Jamie Brown:
"Hailey helped the women’s volleyball team secure a 2nd place finish in the pre-season tip-off tournament this past weekend at the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus. Hailey was a consistent offensive force for her team and generated a lot of scoring opportunities, putting the opponents in trouble with her strong offence."
Victoria Strickland
Fifth-year Forward, Victoria Strickland, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Basketball.
According to Head Coach, Mark Forward:
"Vic, the team’s only senior, provided excellent leadership during the Ken Gould Invitational Tournament, held October 17–19 at St. Thomas University.
Over the three games, Vic averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game. She shot 45% from the field, including 33% from the three-point line, and 100% from the free-throw line, while playing 25 minutes per game.
It was a solid weekend for Victoria, leading by example for our young 2025–2026 squad."
Nathaniel Titus
Third-year Foward, Nathaniel Titus, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men's Basketball.
According to Head Coach, Danny De Palma:
"Nathaniel had 18 points of the bench in the Mystics 97-88 win Sunday over the UNBSJ Seawolves."
