Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week
Kelsey Matheson, Elissa Bryce, and Chase Tynes are this week's Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week!
Elissa Bryce & Kelsey Matheson
First-year Guard Elissa Bryce and First-year Forward Kelsey Matheson are this week's Lawtons Co-Athletes of the Week for Women's Basketball.
According to Head Coach Mark Forward:
“Both first-year players led the Mystics with 16 points each. Elissa Bryce added three rebounds, two assists, and an outstanding nine steals, providing consistent energy on both ends of the floor. Her two-way play sparked MSVU in the second quarter, where she scored 11 points and recorded three steals to help open up the game.
Kelsey Matheson was a force inside throughout the contest, finishing with nine rebounds—including five offensive boards—along with five assists and five steals. Stepping up in the absence of one of the team’s leading scorers and post players, Kelsey became a reliable interior presence and a key target for the perimeter players, helping create high-quality scoring opportunities for the team.”
Chase Tynes
Third year Guard, Chase Tynes, is this week's Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men's Basketball.
According to Head Coach Danny De Palma:
"Tynes was one rebound shy of a triple-double, delivering an all-around performance that included a season-high 23 points (10–15 FG, 2–2 3PT), 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and three steals in a 97–79 win at UKC.
Tynes currently leads the ACAA in multiple categories, including:
- Field-goal percentage: 68.0
- Rebounds per game: 10.2
- Assists per game: 6.8
- Total blocks: 15"
