Kate Burton
Fourth-year defender/midfielder, Kate Burton, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for women's soccer.
According to Coach Cyr, "Kate showcased exceptional skill and composure on the field this week, playing a crucial role in her team’s success." Kate dominated the midfield, winning crucial 50/50 challenges and consistently disrupting the opposition’s attack with her relentless energy. Calm and collected in possession, she helped maintain control of the game, orchestrating the midfield with precision. In the championship final, Kate stepped up to score a penalty, lifting the pressure and sealing the 3-0 victory for her team. Coach Cyr notes that Kate's "leadership and performance were vital to securing the title, making her a well-deserved Athlete of the Week!"
A Bachelor of Science, Biology student, Kate is from White's Lake, NS.
Ignacio Chung Michelson
First-year strike, Ignacio Chung Michelson, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for men's soccer.
Coach Florean says "Ignacio is an amazing person and an athlete, with great skills and technical ability, vision, passion for the beautiful sport of soccer." Florean went on to say "Ignacio gave everything he got on the field to support the Mystics in the ACAA championship this weekend in the semifinal vs STU. His hard work and determination was noticed and earned him Mystics player of the game! Ignacio is a great addition to our Mystics soccer program going forward."
A Human Applied Nutrition student, Ignacio is from Bridgewater, NS.
Madesen Allen
Madesen Allen is this week’s Lawton’s Athlete of the Week for cross country.
Madesen came in first in the women's six-kilometer race at the 2024 ACAA Cross Country Championships in Brookvale, PEI this weekend. She crossed the line with a time of 23:56.3, earning the title of 2024-25 Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Year and a spot on the ACAA All-Conference team.
A Bachelor of Public Relations student, Madesen is from Dartmouth, NS.
Celine Sterckel
Fourth-year forward, Celine Sterckel, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for women's basketball.
Celine provided some offensive stability over the two Mystics games this weekend while the team dealt with some major injury issues. She scored 21 points per game and also added 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game.
A Bachelor of Education student, Celine is from Moncton, NB.
Jaydan Smith
Fifth-year guard, Jaydan Smith, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for men's basketball.
Jaydan led the Mystics in scoring in both wins on the weekend. Closing out the Mystics' home opener game against the Crandall Chargers with 19 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds. He also led the team toward their 74-68 victory over the MTA Mounties, securing 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block and 1 steal.
A General Studies student, Jaydan is from Beechville, NS.
