Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week
Amani Oystreck, Lauren Seamone and Cooper McVicar-Smith are this week's Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week.
Amani Oystreck
First-year runner, Amani Oystreck, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Cross Country.
According to Head Coach Elizabeth MacDonald:
“In her first year of university competition, Amani Oystreck delivered an outstanding performance placing 2nd overall out of 33 women at the cross-country meet hosted by Holland College in PEI, helping her team clench 2nd place. On a challenging course with demanding hills, she showed her strength by powering up the climbs with confidence and using the terrain to her advantage. This impressive debut highlights both her talent and her ability to excel on tough courses, making her an exciting runner to watch this season.”
A BSc Science student, Amani is from Tantallon, NS.
Lauren Seamone
Fifth-year defender, Lauren Seamone, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women’s Soccer.
According to Head Coach Jenna Blackburn:
“Lauren was a standout performer this weekend, showing exactly why she’s a key player for the Mystics on both sides of the ball. Playing at right back, she not only anchored the defence with her trademark physicality, but also made an impact going forward, netting two stunning goals from distance in a 7-0 win against Crandall. Her experience showed throughout the match as she led by example, getting stuck into challenges and never backing down.”
A BEd student, Lauren is from Bridgewater, NS.
Cooper McVicar-Smith
Third-year midfielder, Cooper McVicar-Smith, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men’s Soccer.
According to Head Coach Kieran Collins:
“In our away match against Crandall, Cooper McVicar-Smith delivered an outstanding performance that earned him this week’s recognition. Cooper scored a crucial goal and worked tirelessly for the full 90 minutes, setting the tone with his relentless effort and commitment on both sides of the ball. His determination and impact were instrumental in pushing the team forward in a challenging road fixture.”
A BSc Science student, Cooper is from Dartmouth, NS.
